Santa Monica

Completed in 1941 by Giuseppe Momo — the architect of the Vatican Museums’ spiral ramp — Santa Monica serves the Augustinian General Curia and its International College rather than a parish. Made a titular cardinal-deaconry only in 2023, its sole titular cardinal to date, Robert Prevost, was elected Pope Leo XIV in 2025, at the same site where he had been ordained a priest in 1982.

  • Mosaics by Marko Rupnik in the chapel
  • The only titular church held by Pope Leo XIV before his election
  • Serves the Augustinian General Curia and International College of St. Monica
