A small church likely dating to the 10th or 11th century, Santa Barbara passed to the confraternity of Rome’s booksellers and publishers in 1600 and was rebuilt after a fire in 1634. Deconsecrated in 1878, it stood abandoned for decades before being restored again in 1982.
