Built above catacombs where the bodies of Sts. Peter and Paul were traditionally sheltered, San Sebastiano fuori le Mura takes its name from the martyr buried within. Long counted among the Seven Pilgrim Churches, it stands on the Via Appia, itself inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2024.
